Certified Specialist in Healthcare Accreditation
Professionals who deal with helping a hospital maintain accreditation with one or more accrediting body require knowledge of the accreditation process. To succeed at this, these professionals utilize abilities that are not taught in most collegiate or training programs.
The Certified Specialist in Healthcare Accreditation program has been created to promote competence and effectiveness in professionals who serve as an accreditation professional. Applicants who pass the certifying exam receive the designation CSHA.

The mission of the Certified Specialist in Healthcare Accreditation Program is to identify, recognize and support a high level of quality, experience and training in the accreditation professional role. The program accomplishes this by drawing from experienced, in-the-field accreditation professionals to establish criteria for competent professionals to lead, guide, and implement organization's initiatives to achieve and maintain accreditation and to meet and exceed accreditation standards and regulations.
Objectives of certification
The objectives of the Certified Specialist in Healthcare Accreditation Program are to:
- Support the effectiveness of healthcare in our communities by promoting standards of competency for accreditation professionals working in a range of different positions
- Promote professional success and hospital success by helping accreditation specialists who serve in leadership positions define and obtain the requisite knowledge and skills to fulfill their responsibilities effectively
- Provide special recognition to those accreditation specialists who demonstrate mastery of an acquired body of knowledge and skills in healthcare accreditation through successful completion of the certification process
- Identify individuals with substantive knowledge and skills in healthcare accreditation leadership for the benefit of all hospital staff members
